Does the Arizona sun really ruin outdoor lighting?

Yes, and it is the single biggest durability factor in this market. UV degrades plastics and polymers - housings chalk and yellow, lenses cloud, adhesives release, and cheap wire insulation goes brittle. A retail-box system installed in December often looks visibly tired by the following summer. Everything we install is specified for outdoor UV exposure, and that is a baseline requirement here rather than an upgrade. If a quote does not mention UV rating anywhere, that is the thing to ask about.

What about monsoon season?

Monsoon runs July through September and brings sudden wind and driven rain. Every junction box and fixture we install is sealed and outdoor-rated, because monsoon finds connections. It also affects timing: we plan permanent installs and any exposed electrical work around monsoon activity rather than through it. The holiday install season, October through December, sits after monsoon and is the most comfortable working window of the year here.

Should I do warm white or multi-color for the holidays?

Honest answer for this market: warm white and amber, with color used deliberately if at all. Desert architecture - stucco, stone, clean parapet lines, mature landscaping - looks extraordinary in warm white and looks cheap in saturated multi-color. Most of our Scottsdale clients run warm white as the standing look with restrained holiday color in December, and it reads as intentional rather than as a retail display. If you want a full color scheme we will design one properly; we will just design it, not default to it.

Can you light my patio, pool deck, and palms - not just the roofline?

Yes, and in Scottsdale that is usually most of the job. Yes, and it is common here - it is just a different design problem than a pitched northern roof, and it needs a different plan. Long low parapet lines light beautifully when the fixture placement and the throw are planned for the geometry, and badly when someone tries to apply a pitched-roof approach to them. We walk and measure every property before quoting for exactly this reason.

When should I schedule holiday lighting in Scottsdale?

Earlier is still better, but the pressure is genuinely lower here than in our northern markets. No snow means October through December is a comfortable working window and we can install later in December than a Michigan crew can. The calendar still fills, so September or early October booking gets you the week you want. Permanent lighting installs are scheduled year-round.

Priced on the linear footage of architectural runs, the number of fixtures for uplighting and landscape work, the geometry of the roofline or parapet, access, and the scope - facade only versus facade plus patio, pool deck, palms, and hardscape. We quote after walking the property, because a Scottsdale plan is genuinely a design rather than a package.
